Upcoming Fund Raisers for Texas!

Hello everyone,

I would like to take the opportunity to ask each of you to participate or sponsor someone who is participating in a Walk for Hope Across Texas in October. The following Walk is planned:

More Support Groups Needed

At the present time we know of several active support groups: Austin, Dallas/Denton/Grapevine/Ft.Worth, Mesquite, Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso.

We would like to start a support group in the Waco area as well as have a professional identified to help with community resources.

Or if you're in an area that's not served by a support group but would like to discuss the possibility of starting one you can also contact Cheryl to see if anyone else has expressed an interest and for assistance in starting one.

Regular support groups usually serve the need of a very small percentage of the HD community but for some it's a treasured event. Sometimes HD causes friends and family members to gradually fall away - so the opportunity to share with real people in the area who understand what is going on in their lives can be very precious.

There have been several updates to the support group pages to reflect the 2007 calendar - but it's not yet complete. If you see something that's not right PLEASE let me know and I'll be happy to correct it.

Fund Raisers Needed!

In addition to serving as a contact point for social services, HDSA Chapters and Affiliates are a fund-raising arm of the national Huntington's Disease Society of America. Your help in raising funds is ALWAYS greatly appreciated. HDSA would like an opportunity to help with your efforts to find a cure for your loved ones by providing assistance with marketing and event liability. Let Us Know About You

One thing that severely impedes our efforts to spread awareness of HD, to learn where the greatest need is, and to be able to identify people who would like to assist with finding a cure for Huntington's Disease is KNOWING WHO THE HD FAMILIES ARE.

HDSA Needs you. Please contact Janice Watsky and let her know who and where you are. Often Hospitals offer local HD education. They inform Janice about their programs but she doesn't know how to tell you because you're not on the list. DON'T BE LEFT OUT!
